Learn about our State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL)

Open Survey

Our State Plan for Independent Living (we call it the SPIL) guides our daily work to ensure we are meeting the needs of the disability community.

We draft a new one every three years with input from members of the disaibility community, WASILC councilmembers and the centers for independent living.

The SPIL is also how WASILC holds itself accountable to specific goals and metrics, so we know if we are achieving what we set out to do.

The top three goals of our 2025-2027 plan:

  1. Diversity Equity Inclusion and Accessibility: We want people with disabilities from underserved and unserved communities to have equitable access to Independent Living-related services and support.
  2. Inclusive Emergency Planning: We want access and functional needs to be central to emergency preparedness, response and recovery for people with disabilities across communities and systems, including individuals with disabilities living within tribal communities.
  3. Network Growth: We want the Independent Living Network to operate effectively, have adequate funding and have the capacity to expand.
