Governor Signs Executive Orders Promoting Inclusion

Open Survey

Governor Inslee signed two executive orders this month that will aim to improve accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities.

Here's a little bit about each order:

Increasing Employment Opportunities in Washington State Government EO 24-04

This order says state agencies should prioritize job candidates' skills and knowledge. It removes academic degrees as the only way to meet a required qualification. The order says all state employees should be aware of the obstacles some people face in accessing state services and that how people are treated makes it easier or harder for them to be successful.

Improving Outcomes for People with Disabilities in State Employment EO 24-05

This order says Washington state should strive to eliminate and remedy past workplace barriers for people with disabilities. It says the state should aim to employ people with disabilities at all levels of government. Government should try to create access and belonging for people with disabilities throughout every phase of employment, according to the order.
